Instructions for Changing your Blog's Background Image

1. Sign into www.blogger.com and click on Layout.
2. Click on 'Add a Gadget'.
3. By the 'HTML/JavaScript, Click the (+) sign.
4. In the Content box, paste the entire HTML code located below the thumbnail of the background of your choice.
5. Click 'Save'. Now view your page to make sure it looks okay.
6. Be sure to change your font colors to coordinate with your new background.

   NOTE: Light colored fonts look best on dark backgrounds and visa-vera

Backgrounds are designed specifically for the blog templates on www.blogger.com but will work on most blogs as well as websites. Backgrounds work best with the "Minima" template in Blogger. To change to the Minima template, sign into blogger.com, click on layout, click "pick new template", and choose "minima" (the first choice on the top left) and save. ---NOTE: If you have made any changes in your HTML codes, you will lose these when you change templates unless you make a backup copy of your present template.

If you are using FireFox: 
Click on Help on the tool bar. Click "About Mozilla Firefox."  If you do not have the update version there will be an update button.  

It's important to UPGRADE. The main reason for keeping your Internet browser up-to-date is for your protection. Each upgrade contains code to protect against the latest and greatest viruses. And the second most important reason to update your browser is functionality. Older versions of software cannot display newer software programs/websites appropriately.

1. Click on the Header you want to use

2. When the header opens, right click and save it to your computer.

3. Sign into Blogger: Go to Layout: Page Elements Tab: you are now at the NavBar

4. Click on "Edit" in the Header Box (the first box)

5. Copy the Image from your computer (It should load & show a preview)

6. Select "Instead of title and description" if you have customized as shown below. Click Save and You're Done!

VERY IMPORTANT INFO:

Before adding your header you can customize it (adding your name, blogname, or photos) by using any photo editing software such as Photoshop, Microsoft Digital Image, or Illustrator. There is also a good photo editing software free online paint.net.

HOWEVER, IF YOU DONT WANT TO GO TO THE TROUBLE EACH TIME TO EDIT HEADERS, JUST MAKE THIS ONE SIMPLE CHANGE IN YOUR LAYOUT HTML AND YOUR BLOG TITLE WILL BE IN THE CORRECT POSITION:

1. In Blogger, go to your layout page, then click on edit HTML

2. Scroll Down to the paragraph that says

#header h1 {
margin:5px 5px 0;
padding:15px 20px .25em;
line-height:1.2em;
text-transform:uppercase;
letter-spacing:.2em;
font: $pagetitlefont;

change the padding:15px to 115px (or more/less).

It should look like this now:

#header h1 {
margin:5px 5px 0;
padding:115px 20px .25em;
line-height:1.2em;
text-transform:/lessuppercase;
letter-spacing:.2em;
font: $pagetitlefont;

Select "behind title and description"

Click "Save Template" and You're Done!

NOTE: Be Very Very Careful to not change anything else because this is the main code for the look of your blog and it could potentially throw off your layout.
